If you've been following my fitness series you'll know I've been showcasing different classes offered at Everbalance in Jacksonville, FL. I've committed to learning more about different workout classes, read more about that here, and have so far taken a Barre Core Fusion class and their Lunch Time Yoga class which I'll share with you today!
Yoga and I have a love-hate relationship. It does wonders for my mind and soul, but I find yoga so counter-intutive for my body (a huge indicator that I, in fact, need more yoga in my life). I find the movements awkward instead of fluid, and I believe it's partly because I am simply not a naturally flexible person (I've joked with Tetyanna that I'm actually the least flexible person in the world- which she has so far disagreed with since I managed to get my leg up on the barre during the Barre Core Fusion class with, surprisingly, ease).
The thing I loved the most about this yoga class is sort of silly- but it literally is huge for me: This yoga class we did not face the mirror but instead the side wall of the studio. So why, you may ask, is this even something to mention?
Well, if you're anything like me, and you're totally 100% awkward flowing in and out of yoga poses, then being in front of a mirror actually makes the whole situation a lot worse. Not only do I see how awkward I look, but I fixate on it and try to adjust my poses to look more "yoga-like". The problem with that is, I tend to analyze my yoga practice instead of "feel" my yoga practice.
