It's 2018, have you met your fitness goals yet? If you're me the answer is sadly no.
Part of me jumps to the defense as I have a million reasons why! I feel like I'm always working either at or on Balanced Healing of Jacksonville, working on this blog, finishing up the loose ends up my soon to be published first book and spreading the word of safer beauty as a Beautycounter consultant! My to-do list goes on and go....
But if I'm being honest with myself- those are excuses.
"If it's important enough, you'll find the time. If not, you'll find an excuse."
Feeling healthy enough to get into shape is an important and crucial step to actually getting in shape. You can't binge on a box of donuts at night and then feel like doing a 6:45am workout class the next day. It's just not going to happen. You need to transform the way you think about health and wellness. Reaching your fitness goals, to me, is not just about consistently working out- it's about a positive mindset, a healthy diet, and discipline. It's about making a vow to yourself to love and honor your body- the only body you were given- and not waste it.
I just want to touch on this point quickly, since it's something I see in my office... Not everyone is in a position to start working out despite how badly they want to. Some people struggle on a daily basis to make it through the day, to have just a few good hours where they can feel normal. It's hard to imagine what that's like if you've never been there. It's hard to imagine a disease or a condition being so debilitating and all-encompassing that you now mourn who you once were.
So this is my plea to you (and to me):
If you are lucky enough to live a life where you are literally capable of honoring your body in every aspect of it's existence, please do. Make your body proud. Love it with good nutrition, challenge it with physical activity and be kind to it with your thoughts and words. Your body loves you, unconditionally, have a healthy relationship with it where you give it what it needs and watch how it'll nourish you back.
