Traditional cleaning products are laden with toxic chemicals. When we are exposed to these chemicals on a regular basis our bodies become inundated. What we are routinely exposed to we absorb- and yes, this includes cleaning chemicals. We already live in a toxic world, the food we eat, the water we drink, the medications we take, etc. all take a toll of our body. When we can make better choices, we should. If it's possible to reduce the toxic burden by any means, we should. In the process not only are you making it easier on your body (one less thing to inundate your liver with), but you're also saving money and contributing to a less consumptive lifestyle which directly effects the planet.
So what is Citrus Vinegar? It is white vinegar that has been infusing with citrus peels, the end result being a product that smells a whole lot better than straight vinegar and becomes a fantastic base for DIY house hold products such as an all purpose cleaner, wood cleaner and polish, and fabric softener (stay tuned for those recipes- in the meantime, get your citrus vinegar ready!).
Citrus Vinegar can be made with all citrus peels, as long as the fruit is organic. For this post I used orange because we have an orange tree in the backyard and about 4 dozen oranges that were ready for the picking! No, you don't need 4 dozen oranges for this, I promise! Once lemon and lime season hit I'll make more with those fruits. Trust me, you can't go wrong.
