It’s here. Cold and Flu season, I mean. Which means it’s time to prepare. By prepare I absolutely do not mean go and get the flu shot- actually, quite the opposite.
It's time to build the immune system so you are stronger. The flu shot contains toxic ingredients and adjuvants that stress the body and lower the immune system. In addition it is statically not effective, despite the amount of inflated and misleading information advertised and purposely bias studies. Honey, ginger and lemon, on the other hand, are all fantastic ways to support the immune system! Make this now and keep it in your fridge all season long.

I typically take vitamin c and b complex, silver and monolaurin as my daily routine and add in elderberry capsules or chews, l-lysine and zinc when in contact with contagious/sick people. This works for me, but every individual is very different. Never start a supplement routine without first talking with your physician. Many supplements have contraindications and are not suited for everyone. Not all supplements are created equal- quality varies and can have a drastic impact on functionality.
But with this honey ginger lemon tonic...now that you can't go wrong it!
Honey Ginger Lemon Tonic
1 organic lemon, cut into thin slices
3 inch piece of ginger, peeled and roughly chopped/grated*
Raw honey, local when possible
Blanch the lemon in boiling water for 30 seconds to remove any wax from the skin. Then slice the lemon. layer the peeled ginger pieces and lemon into a clean glass jar (several lemon pieces in one layer, then some ginger, repeat until you’re out of both). Pour honey over top, be patient, it will take a little while for it to get down to the bottom, pour until entire jar is full. Refrigerate.
To use, spoon 1 tablespoon of mixture (including lemon and ginger pieces) into a mug of hot water. Stir until honey is dissolved. Sip regularly or as needed for immune support.
Since honey is a natural preservative, this can last for months in the refrigerator without giving you any issues. I secretly use this to make tea even when I’m not feeling under the weather, it’s so delish!
You can always tap it off with more honey, lemon and ginger when it starts to get low. The longer it sits, the better it is.
*If you prefer or enjoy the taste of ginger grating it will enhance the flavor.
*If you don't have any raw local honey on hand just use a store bought raw. Pasteurized honey has the same nutritional value as processed white sugar, the pasteurization process kills off all the nutritional and healing properties honey has to offer.
